“I am not good enough”-this is a very common thought that many people have at certain point of time in their lives. It may happen when you do not achieve something, it may happen when you “fail”, it may happen when you compare yourself with other people, it may happen when something does not happen according to your expectation.
Before we go into what you can do in such a situation, let’s see something.

Shut down the inner critic
Inner critic is good to ensure that you’re not overconfident but too much of it is very harmful. If you have been doing it for years and it has not work for you (that’s why you are having this thought), let’s stop doing that. Instead of that, let’s approve whatever you have done and the way you are. You will find some good qualities in you if you know how to look for them. Whenever the inner critic emerges its ugly head, beat it down. If necessary say, “**** off, stop it right now, you are warned,” or anything else and simply destroy it there. You don’t need it right now, so make it shut up.
Take a stock of the good things
There are some good things in your life. There are some good, positive memories and there are some good and positive things that you have done in your life. Ask yourself the right questions- “what are the good and positive things there in my life?” and “what are the good and positive things that I have done?” Taking stock of the good things will help you to alleviate your mood and after sometime it will make you feel better about yourself.
Take a small step
You need to make some real changes in your environment if you want to feel better. You will also need to make some changes to change how you feel. First, you will need to find out what are the things that will help you to change how you think, how you feel and how you react. Also find out what are the changes that you need to do in your environment so that you do not feel bad about yourself. Change your negative environment to a positive one. If you ask yourself the questions about the changes necessary in your life, you will find the right answers.
Once you find the answers, simply take the first step for making the change. Don’t simply stop at the thinking and planning stage, cross them and go to the next stage, which is the action stage. Take action. It may be a very small step but nonetheless you are taking some action and that will help you to create the momentum necessary to take the next. And when that happens, you’ll be able to change your life completely.
Once you take action and achieve the small objective, reward yourself. This is necessary to keep yourself motivated to take more actions and also to take the next step. Reward yourself with something that you value even though it may be small. Set the next goal and then achieve it and again reward yourself for trying to achieve your objective.
It takes some time and more importantly some actions on your part to completely change what you are thinking about yourself. Change the thought and you will change your life.
