What is Kaizen?

Kaizen is a Japanese word that means “improvement.” It also refers to continuous improvement. Even though it is mostly used in business but you can always use it in your life.

It will help you to make consistent progress. You will be able to achieve all your goals with this method. It will help you to change your bad habits and replace them with good ones. It will help you to achieve more and more.

Kaizen is the answer

The kaizen method consist of small steps to continuously improve yourself.

In kaizen, you use very small steps which may appear insignificant at first. However, within a very short duration you will see and experience the results of such small steps. These small steps will add up to big results and that too within a short time, which will motivate you to continue them for a long duration.

I have personally used this method to improve every aspect of my life. From increasing my confidence, looking better, changing carriers, to creating a start-up, I have done so many things just because of this simple method. I wanted to be a motivational speaker and I have become one in the last three years and people are paying me to listen to me and to get coached by me. All this have been possible because of kaizen.

Why do we need it?

Sometimes we become so excited about our goals that we want to start or we start immediately with great enthusiasm, which last for some time and then completely dries up. This is why, we start doing so many things but complete only a few of them. Let’s take an example here.

If you want to lose weight, and you have a goal in front of you and you are very much motivated. So, you start it with lots of excitement and enthusiasm. You go to the gym 4 to 5 days a week, you continuously talk about the benefit of exercise, you follow a strict diet and then you weigh yourself every day, sometimes 2-3 times in a day. But after a month or so when you don’t see drastic results which you expected to see, gradually your enthusiasm and excitement dies up and you find it very difficult to exercise even 2-3 times in a week. Instead of that, if you start small and use kaizen to achieve your goal of losing weight, you will be more successful. You can break down your big goal of losing 10-20 pounds into some smaller goals and then break them further down into smaller goals. Such smaller goals will be easier to achieve and you can start working towards achieving them. You only follow the method of continuous improvement, where you try to improve a little from yesterday’s goals. Such continuous improvement over time will become big results and will help you to achieve your smaller goals. Continuous achievement of the smaller goals will propel you towards achieving the bigger goals. Instead of finding results immediately, the journey of losing weight, will become a journey for you which you will enjoy and will also get the results that were your goals.

Everything can be done with some simple things. If you decide to always strive for continuous improvement in everything you do, you will be able to achieve very big things without being stressed about achieving the results. During this process, reward yourself for a achieving the smaller goals so that you can keep yourself motivated. Rewards will help you to stay motivated for a longer duration and they are very essential if you really want to achieve the big results.

Continuous improvement is very easy because you need to improve a little from yesterday and so you do not stress yourself thinking about having to do so many things. It’s easier
